Media Working Group works
with organizations to integrate critical understandings of
media literacy and theory into their training and education
programs. We assist organizations in designing curricula and
presenting on-going workshops, stand-alone workshops, seminars,
instructional media, on-going classes and on-line sessions.
Our work is grounded in cultural studies, community development,
arts education, media access and media theory. We keep to
the forefront of all the work an awareness that media are
not neutral windows on the world but expressions of social
power characterized by uneven relationships of power based
on race, class, gender, ethnic and regional differences.

Curriculum tools include
an eclectic mix, ranging from screening and discussion,
cultural identification projects, usage assessments
and media awareness training to oral histories, video
diaries, experiential movement and role playing, hands-on-production,
claymation and art making. We honor and engage all the
senses.
