Peter Huttinger Inherent Vice Inherent Vice is a wall mounted, mixed media, construction. It has both a public and private persona in a much as it is double sided. Its public face is presented, much like a painting, to an audience when the work is exhibited. Whereas, another persona is implied via the suspended cast plaster object, the photographs affixed to the back of the construction, and the publications stored within the metal box. When exhibited the photographs are concealed from the public, however the ability of the viewer to peer at the plaster object through the hole suggests there is more. The right side of the work is open exposing the hanging plaster object and in turn leading the viewer to the metal box which resides below. The box is accessible and may be removed, opened, and its contents inspected.
