WelcomeMy name is Eddie Kerr. I am a playwright, poet, performance artist, educator and arts faciliatator based in Derry City in the North of Ireland. I have been involved in theatre and community arts development work for the last 15 years in Ireland, Europe and in the USA. I am currently Project Director of the ARTEMIS Project, which is a young people's interactive Arts programme focusing on the capacity building of creative arts actions for disadvantaged young people in my region. So far this year (1998) we have worked with over 3,000 young people (aged 6-26 years) using a variety of artistic activities which enable and empower young people to "tell their story" in words, visuals and performance activities. I am based at St. Columb's Theatre,in the heart of Derry, where I am resident playwright and Artistic Director. I will use this website to tell you what is going on here. So keep in touch and maybe something will interest you enough to find out more about our work. If so, you can always Email me. I would like to thank Media Working Group, the Benton Foundation and the National Endownment for the Arts for the opportunity to participate in this esciting and innovative arts project. This allows a diverse range of artists from various disciplines to get involved in the interactive process improve dialogue and above all exchange and diseminate ideas and creative juices. This is indeed an honour for me, as an Irishman based several thousand miles from my mentor site to be involved in this global process. Be gentle with me as I come to terms with all these tags and codes and create a website that will be both interesting and informative. I have used this opportunity to create a website that would do more than be based on self-publicity and promotion. I thought it would be a good idea to generate and stimulate discussion/debate. One of the gateway link pages is trying to explore the role of culture in the political process (or is it vice versa?).I would be very keen to be involved in this discussion so why not get in touch with me and we'll take it from there. Other pages examine the activities I am currently involved in, a curriculum vitae in case you want commission/contract me, some samples of my previous work, some other websites you may find interesting and relevant and some other "stuff" that I come across on the greasy pole of life. So, thanks for dropping in on my webpage and maybe if you have time, energy, interest or insomina you may want to explore the rest of the site and let me know what you think, or don't think, about it. You may want to bookmark it and maybe we'll take it from there.
