Main Street is published every Tuesday in The Murray Ledger & Times, Murray, Kentucky.

Some columns cover topics of local interest. Others explore memories of childhood and growing up in small town.

Occasionally, when the columnist is feeling especially brave, a controversial issue may be explored, but if you go to the "History" section, you will find out why that only happens occasionally.

Constance tends to avoid thorny issues, unless she can find a subversive and/or subtle approach that will enable her to continue living in a small town in western Kentucky.

This week's column takes a trip far from Main Street, to a place where there are no street signs, no traffic lights, no friendly citizens waving "Hello" to strangers from their cars.
