Miguel Huarcaya is a video documentary producer and a social researcher. His video work has always been related to his interest in cultural practices and ethnic interaction. He has worked in Peru producing a weekly television cultural program; in the United States producing programming for ethnic minorities; and in Ecuador with the Ecuadorian Indigenous Movement. He has a BA in Film and TV Production from the Universidad de Lima, Peru, and a MA in Latin American Studies from the Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar, Quito, Ecuador. His MA honors thesis, which deals with the transformation of the cultural meaning of drinking practices in an Ecuadorian indigenous community after the emergence of evangelical religion, will be published this year by the UASB. During the last 2 years and a half, he has been collaborating extensively with the Department of Communication of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador, from training to producing to editing to shooting.
