The embroideries are done in Otavalo and surrounding indigenous communities. There are two types: fully handmade and stitched with a sewing machine. The designs are always made anew by hand. The needlework is done stretching the fabric on a frame. The style is distinctively Otavaleño, merging tradition and innovation.
