Uvillas
(Physalis peruviana) Uvillas are known in Peru as capuli and aguyamanto. The plant bears globular fruits, each enclosed in a bladderlike husk that becomes papery on maturity. Native to the Andes, uvillas grow as a wild bush and only recently has been commercially cultivated there. In the early nineteen century, it was introduced in South Africa and Australia and there acquired its common English name: cape gooseberry.
