Tips for Finding the Right College

Virtual visits to colleges are great, but there is no substitute for really being on campus, meeting professors and students and get the "feel" for the school. You need to develop a list of questions that will help you decide:

  1. Do you have activities on campus for students interested in education as a career?
  2. Is your education major a four year or five year program?
  3. Is it student teaching or a year-long internship?
  4. What support do you have for student success? (writing labs, tutoring, special programs for minority students)
  5. What financial aid is available for education majors?

And, you should attend local and regional college fairs and speak personally to college representatives. Once you have started to narrow down your choices, you can complete a college comparison worksheet which can be very helpful.
