My Grandpa's Garden

As performed by Anna Scales, Faye Massey, Scott Thrasher, Heather Fugate, Drew Scales and Mark Janeway
    I. An actor, an actress and a child enter. There is a slide of a garden behind them.

II. The child is reading about gardening from THE FOXFIRE BOOK, talking to his grandpa about the ways and means of gardening.

III. The grandpa asks his grandson if he knows how to tell when a watermelon is ripe. He says that if you put a piece of straw of hay on the top of the melon and it dances that means it's ripe. The woman and the grandson watch the watermelon for a while. The grandpa screams periodically, "Did you see it?" The two always reply NO!

IV. Children enter and begin to play tag. The sun is setting and a woman enters, "lifts" up her window and screams at the kids to go home. Play time is over and she has to work in the morning. The kids begrudgingly exit the scene. The woman yells to the grandpa, still watching the watermelon and orders him home. He also goes. The woman states, "Finally, some peace and quiet" So goes to her radio and turns on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

    V. Lights fade.
